  • In Anatomy and Physiology 12, we study every system of the human body. Initially, we study cells, how each organelle inside the cell functions, and their role in the body. Once we know what is happening at the microscopic level, we study several body systems, including the digestive, respiratory, nervous, circulatory and reproductive systems.

  • Students are about to explore a current global issue: The loss of our global cultural heritage. This course is based on the At-Risk Cultural Heritage Education Series (ARCHES) and is a new Smarthistory learning resource for studying at-risk cultural heritage, funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities. Students will also create several art projects/research projects each month.

Students will complete the course by creating a Capstone Project that they will present to a panel of their choosing. Their Capstone Project will highlight their future education, career plans, and goals.

  • In Chemistry 11, students study many different areas of chemistry, from the basics of the periodic table to conversions in stoichiometry (the students always have a lot of fun with this word!). We complete units on atoms and molecules, chemical reaction type, basic chemistry calculations (conversion factors and significant digits), enthalpy changes, solubility, naming of organic and inorganic molecules, green chemistry, the mole, stoichiometry, and the periodic table. This class does involve basic math, so make sure you have a calculator.

  • In Chemistry 12, we study chemical reactions. We examine rates of reactions, equilibrium, how things work in solutions, acids and bases and finally, electrochemistry. Chemistry 12 uses math extensively, including logarithms, but, most importantly, algebra.

  • It's human nature to pursue truth and to find answers to the big questions that plague our minds. Answers come to us in many forms through world religions and other philosophical arguments. Our worldview lens impacts what we choose to believe as true. In this course, students will explore the worldviews of the following world religions: Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Islam, and Christianity, along with a closer look at spirituality in First Peoples cultures.

  • This course offers students a strong base for reading and writing in high school.  Learning to write effectively, concisely, and creatively is the main focus, along with reading rich, relevant literature that brings issues and meaningful choices to the discussion table. Along with literature, students are presented with media samples to analyze and evaluate. In this class, students also have the opportunity to speak in front of a group and grow their public speaking skills. This course is an amalgamation of two 2-credit courses for a total of 4 credits. If you wish to take only one component (Literature or Composition) and are a cross-enrolled student, please let the office know this when you enroll.

  • In Computer Programming 11, students will learn the basics of computer programming in Python and the fundamentals of computation and get the opportunity to implement their own Python functions. The course concludes with a final project component where students showcase their new skills.

  • In this course, students will complete three modules. In the first module, students will learn about Computers and Communications Devices through various projects and assignments on hardware, software, operating system shortcuts, command line operations, preventative maintenance, security risks, troubleshooting, and the evolution of technology. In the second module on Computational Thinking, students will complete the Computer Science Discoveries course from code.org, where they will create, build, design, and problem-solve as they learn how to code. Finally, in the third module, students will become more versed in Digital Literacy by completing projects and assignments on internet safety, looking at their digital footprint, researching ethical issues surrounding computer use, and learning how to identify and prevent cyberbullying.

  • Creative Writing 12 gives students the chance to develop their skills in storytelling, poetry, and creative expression.   • In Culinary Arts 12, students will begin exploring food and kitchen safety. From there, students will explore various celebratory foods, interact with multiple herbs and spices, tackle numerous forms of dough and bread, and interact intentionally with the updated Canada Food Guide. Students will also get to plan and execute a party and explore the cultural importance of Indigenous foods.
